A Maui story

Service shaped by family business, county work, community, and results.

Tyson is a Wailuku-based public servant and incumbent State Representative who served Maui County as Chief of Staff and Deputy County Managing Director before joining the Legislature.

Before government service, Tyson worked in his family's business, giving him firsthand understanding of the pressures facing local workers, builders, small businesses, and families trying to make life work in Hawaii.

Tyson's path

Grounded experience. Proven follow-through.

Tyson's story is rooted in practical service: understanding local business, working inside county government, showing up for community organizations, and using that experience to deliver results in the State House.

County government

Learning how decisions affect everyday life.

Before joining the Legislature, Tyson served Maui County in senior leadership roles, including Chief of Staff and Deputy County Managing Director. That work gave him a close view of how government decisions shape housing, infrastructure, emergency response, and the basic delivery of public services.

Family business

A practical view of jobs, costs, and responsibility.

Tyson also worked in his family's business, Miyake Concrete Accessories. That background helps explain his practical focus on housing, permitting, local procurement, and economic development: he has seen how rules and delays affect workers, builders, small businesses, and families on the ground.

Community service

Service beyond officeholding.

Tyson's public biography includes service with the American Cancer Society, mentoring for Maui High School students, and other community organizations. For Tyson, public service starts with showing up, listening, and doing the steady work that helps neighbors feel connected to the decisions being made.

In the State House, Tyson has delivered results by focusing on housing, infrastructure, affordability, local food and business, accountable government, and Maui recovery. His re-election message is simple: keep listening, keep working, and keep delivering for Maui families.
